Inauguration of the sculpture by José Mª Llompart de la Peña in Palma

The sculpture of José María Llompart de la Peña was unveiled in Palma on January 28, 2026, the anniversary of his death, at the corner of Oms street and Missió street. The sculpture, created by Mallorcan sculptress Georgina Gamundí, was an initiative of the Balearic Cultural Association (OCB) with the collaboration of the regional, island, and municipal governments. The latter was represented at the unveiling by the Mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, and the OCB by its president, Antoni Llabrés. Despite the rainy weather, a large crowd was in attendance, including former Mayor of Palma José Hilla, current council members from the MÉS party, and numerous OCB officials and members. Representatives from the Government of the Balearic Islands and the Island Council of Mallorca were also present. Josep Mª Llompart de la Peña was born on May 23, 1925 and died on January 28, 1993
